Question · Q4 2025
Jong-hyun Yoon inquired about LG Display's mobile OLED business, specifically the smartphone panel shipment figures for last year and the target for this year. He also asked about potential opportunities given changes in customer product launch cycles and competitor technology trends. Additionally, he asked for the company's perspective and strategy regarding the impact of memory semiconductor industry trends on business performance, following last year's tariffs.
Answer
Baek Seung-ryong, Head of Small Display Planning and Management, stated that in 2025, smartphone panel shipments saw meaningful growth in the first half, largely reducing the seasonal variation between the first and second halves. The annual target of mid-70 million units was achieved despite demand differences by model in the second half. For 2026, the goal is to further close the gap between the first and second half while outpacing last year's growth in panel shipment. CFO Kim Seong-hyun added that LG Display's smartphone panel capabilities are proven, with know-how to meet diverse technical needs, and they will leverage existing infrastructure for demand growth and new technologies. Lee Gi-young, in charge of Business Intelligence, explained that rising memory prices could lead to IT set price increases, dampening demand, and pressure from customers to lower panel prices. He noted the current impact is limited but the company is closely monitoring volatility.
