Question · Q4 2025
Samir Joshi asked for more details on NANO Nuclear's progress in Canada with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), outlining the steps and plans for 2026. He also inquired about the scope of the U.S. AFWERX Direct to Phase II project, detailing NANO Nuclear's involvement and the potential long-term opportunities for military applications.
Answer
James Walker, CEO of NANO Nuclear Energy Inc., explained that the Canadian project is focused on formal site award at the federal level, expected in H1 2026. Upon securing the site, NANO will inherit prior licensing progress, allowing them to proceed directly to Phase 2 of the CNSC licensing process. He also anticipates government support in the form of incentives or investment. Regarding AFWERX, Mr. Walker clarified that the program addresses the U.S. military's mandate for two-week power self-sufficiency. NANO's solution, ideally suited for subterranean, co-located deployment, beat out competitors. The current Phase 1 is a 12-month build-up, with subsequent phases focusing on actual deployment and opening opportunities to mass-produce reactors for many military bases.
