Question · Q3 2025
Sean O'Clegg posed a technical question regarding the transition from PCIe to UALink native switches, asking about silicon complexity, firmware/SDK focus, and customer lift for the scale-up communication kernel.
Answer
Jitendra Mohan, CEO and Co-founder, explained that while a UALink switch will be a new chip, the Scorpio X design anticipated future generations, allowing heavy leverage of existing switching architecture and Cosmos software stack. He highlighted that both PCIe and UALink are memory semantic, load-store-based protocols, making the software lift for customers easier. Mr. Mohan noted UALink's advantages in faster data rates (200 Gb+), AI-specific optimization, low latency, and open standard status, with silicon development for 2026 deployment. Mike Tate, CFO, clarified that the 20% PCIe Gen 6 revenue contribution was inclusive of both Scorpio (all Gen 6) and Aries Gen 6 products.
