Investment Strategy

RWJF avoids investments in industries such as firearms, alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco, and prioritizes managers who incorporate sustainability and ethical standards in their strategies. The endowment seeks to generate returns at least equal to its annual spending plus inflation, ensuring a stable, enduring support for grantees. Additionally, RWJF allocates significant capital for impact investments focused on health equity, racial equity, and the well-being of low- and moderate-income communities, using deposits, loans, equity, and guarantees to catalyze positive community impact.
