Tim Caflisch

Tim Caflisch is a partner at Finepoint Capital LP, a Boston-based value-focused investment firm where he leads the firm’s equity business with a specialized focus on the Japanese market. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing investment research, portfolio management, and the development of investment strategies primarily targeting Japanese equities and related opportunities.

Before joining Finepoint Capital in 2015, Tim served as a Principal at KKR & Co., working on Special Situations across London and San Francisco from 2008 to 2015—a position where he gained deep expertise in distressed, opportunistic, and private investments. His investment acumen spans valuation, asset management, and complex transaction structuring, with a particular emphasis on public and private equity within Asian markets, notably Japan.

Tim holds a BA in Economics from Stanford University, further underpinning his analytical and financial skills. Known for his contributions to cross-border investment and his leadership in equity investing, Tim has helped Finepoint Capital build a reputation for disciplined, global value investing with an Asian regional specialty.
