Matthew Simpson

Matthew Simpson, CFA, is Managing Partner and co-founder of Wealthspring Capital LLC, based in New York. He leads the firm’s investment strategy and overall management, with a particular focus on delivering structured products, defined-outcome investments, and principal-protected solutions to independent RIAs, family offices, and institutional investors.

Simpson specializes in structured notes, fixed income arbitrage, and credit solutions, leveraging deep experience in these markets to construct portfolios designed to manage drawdown, optimize risk/return, and provide tailored investment outcomes. His work also encompasses exposure to international markets, including emerging markets via public equity and debt securities.

Before founding Wealthspring Capital in 2019, Simpson was Head of US Credit Solutions at MUFG, where he managed bespoke credit transactions, and previously led Fixed Income ETF and Preferred Equity trading at HSBC. Earlier in his career, he served as Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, overseeing global portfolio management for interest rate, FX, and credit risks in structured products. He holds a BBA in Finance from Loyola University Maryland and is a Chartered Financial Analyst, recognized for his expertise in portfolio construction and risk management.
