Investment Strategy
The Bank of Finland manages its financial assets with annual investment policies set by its Board, focusing on fixed income investments, long-term investments, and responsible investment principles. Foreign reserves are diversified across sovereign bonds, deposits, supranational bonds, covered bank bonds, corporate bonds, and cash, all held to high credit rating standards and managed for interest rate risk. Long-term investments aim to preserve capital value with a diversified portfolio including equities, real estate, fixed income, and cash, emphasizing sustainability and climate criteria via passive ETFs and European real estate funds. The bank regularly updates its responsible investment policies and sets market-based benchmarks for direct investments, balancing risk, liquidity, and return with the aim of providing stable profit for the state budget.
