Question · Q4 2025
Rob Jamison followed up on the EA impairment, asking about the timing, the balance between industry forecast reduction and EA-specific issues, the competitive landscape in high-power electronic load and supply test, and EA's differentiation. He also asked for more detail on data center activities within Test and Measurement and the sizing of defense/government within communications.
Answer
Neill Reynolds, CFO, clarified that the timing of the EA impairment was driven by recent changes in EV subsidies and significant write-downs by large auto OEMs, which necessitated a re-evaluation of forecasts. Tami Newcombe, President and CEO, added that while the automotive opportunity is smaller, EA's technology is being redirected to other energy storage applications. Within Test and Measurement communications, she stated that 70-80% is aerospace and defense, with the remainder directly to hyperscalers, noting that AI data centers broadly boost demand for all electronics testing.
