Russell A. Childs has a strong academic foundation, having earned a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master's degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University. His early career as a certified public accountant provided the expertise that paved his transition into the airline industry.
He began his tenure at SKYW in 2001 as Vice President – Controller and progressively advanced to leadership roles. Between 2007 and 2014, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of a SKYW subsidiary, was promoted to President in 2014, and then became CEO on January 1, 2016.
Beyond his responsibilities at SKYW, he has contributed significantly to the broader aviation sector, holding key leadership positions such as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Chair of the NextGen Advisory Committee at the FAA. His experience has been instrumental in steering the company and supporting nearly 15,000 employees while delivering consistent value to stakeholders.
