Ermenegildo (Gildo) Zegna di Monte Rubello was born in 1955 in Turin, Italy and is a third-generation member of the Zegna family, which has led the company since its founding in 1910.

After completing his education, he graduated from the University of London in 1978 and began his career at Bloomingdale’s in New York, later joining the family business in 1982 to manage operations in North America and Spain.

Over the years, he took on progressively more significant leadership roles, becoming a Board member in 1989, serving as Co-Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2006, and eventually assuming his current positions as Chairperson, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Director.

Under his guidance, the company has grown into a global luxury powerhouse marked by key strategic moves and acquisitions, including the integration of Thom Browne and a high-profile public listing, ensuring that the firm blends its storied heritage with modern innovation while maintaining its position in the luxury market.
