Matt Nieman

Matt Nieman is a Portfolio Manager at Acuitas Investments, where he oversees all U.S. Microcap portfolios and leads the firm's external manager due diligence efforts across multiple asset classes, including U.S. microcap value, international growth, and long/short equity strategies. In his role, he is responsible for discovering, researching, and recommending external investment managers, as well as overseeing and implementing manager transitions for client portfolios.

Nieman specializes in U.S. microcap equities, with a particular focus on value-oriented strategies and manager selection. He also contributes to the firm's international small cap and emerging markets small cap portfolios, bringing a multi-manager approach to portfolio construction and risk management.

Prior to his current role, Nieman served as a Senior Research Analyst and Analyst at Acuitas Investments, building a deep expertise in microcap and multi-manager investing. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Santa Clara University and is a CFA charterholder. With nearly two decades of experience in multi-manager portfolio management and investment research, Nieman has established himself as a key contributor to Acuitas Investments' investment process and client outcomes.
