Matt Linsey

Matt Linsey is the Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at North of South Capital LLP, based in London. In this role, he is responsible for overall stock selection and driving top-down asset allocation themes for the firm’s portfolios. Linsey specializes in managing listed emerging market equity funds, applying an active, value-driven investment approach that combines macro research with bottom-up company analysis.

With over nineteen years of experience directly managing emerging markets portfolios, Matt focuses on equities across a wide spectrum of emerging market countries and sectors, building diversified portfolios of 70–100 stocks. His work emphasizes value investing principles, risk management, and the assessment of equity opportunities relative to local fixed income markets and risk premia.

Prior to founding North of South Capital in 2004, Linsey served as Head of Emerging Markets Equities at Deutsche Asset Management and held investment roles with Chase Manhattan Bank and ING Asset Management. His depth of expertise and long-term outperformance in emerging markets have contributed to his recognition as a leading figure in the sector, particularly for his disciplined and rigorous value investing methodology.
