Leo Wong

Leo Wong is a Partner and Head of Loan Strategy at Waterfall Asset Management LLC, where he plays a pivotal role in the firm's investment committee and leads the development of loan strategies from the New York office. He is primarily responsible for overseeing residential loan investment and trading activities, with a particular focus on whole loans and residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), as well as broader asset-backed credit and specialty finance opportunities within the asset-based finance arena.

Prior to joining Waterfall in 2007, Leo worked as a research associate at Fidelity Investments, concentrating on structured product investments in RMBS and ABS, which laid the foundation for his expertise in structured finance and asset securitization. He began his career as a software developer at Cisco Systems, providing a strong analytical and technical skillset that aids his investment approach.

Leo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Recognized for his innovative leadership, he has significantly contributed to Waterfall’s reputation in high-yield ABS trading and residential loan strategies, helping the firm deliver market-leading, risk-adjusted returns for its clients.
