Behzad Aghazadeh, PhD, is the Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager of Avoro Capital, a prominent New York-based investment firm focused exclusively on the life sciences sector. He leads a team investing primarily in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, utilizing his deep scientific and industry knowledge to identify innovative emerging firms and deliver strong returns with a concentrated approach to the sector.

Dr. Aghazadeh specializes in evaluating investments in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries, with particular attention to companies pioneering new drug development and molecular technologies. He is also recognized for board leadership at firms developing targeted oncology therapies, notably serving as Executive Chairman at Immunomedics during its transformation and subsequent $21 billion acquisition by Gilead.

With over 25 years of experience spanning scientific research, management consulting, and institutional investing, Dr. Aghazadeh began his career as a research scientist and later worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a healthcare management consultant. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry & Biophysics from Cornell University and his Master of Science in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich.
