Wil Harkey

Wilmot B. Harkey is the co-founder and portfolio manager at Nantahala Capital Management, LLC, based in Connecticut. In his current role, he leads investment strategies and oversees portfolio management for the firm, focusing primarily on U.S. public equities with a particular expertise in special situations and small- to mid-cap stocks across a variety of sectors, including technology, healthcare, and consumer services.

Before founding Nantahala Capital Management in 2004, Harkey was a senior research analyst at Sagamore Hill Capital Management, where he developed expertise in equities, derivatives, and fixed-income securities. He also held analyst and research roles at SAM Investments, specializing in convertible arbitrage, and at Village Ventures, a venture capital firm, further deepening his experience in capital structure analysis and venture financing.

Mr. Harkey earned his B.S. from Williams College, double majoring in Economics and Mathematics. He is recognized for his contributions in identifying unique investment opportunities and executing high-conviction, research-driven investments, as reflected in significant ownership interests in several public companies through Nantahala’s managed funds.
