Alex D

Alex Duran is a co-founding Partner and Portfolio Manager at Permian Investment Partners, a New York-based investment firm launched in 2008. He leads the firm's value-oriented, event-driven equity long/short strategy, with a particular emphasis on investing in underperforming businesses led by new, highly incentivized management teams, primarily across Western Europe.

Duran specializes in identifying mismanaged companies undergoing transformative change and focuses largely on small- and mid-cap publicly traded equities in mature markets, with a rigorous, management-centric approach to investing. He works across key sectors targeted by Permian, including consumer, industrials, and select international opportunities, routinely deploying both fundamental and technical analyses to shape the portfolio.

Before founding Permian, Alex Duran served as an Investment Analyst at Brahman Capital and began his career at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Analyst. He graduated with Highest Honors from The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a BBA in Honors Business and Finance. Duran is recognized in the industry for his ability to identify contrarian, high-conviction investments and for generating absolute returns across varying market cycles.
