Laura Stoppel

Laura Stoppel, PhD, is a Partner on the Investment Team at RA Capital Management, based in the greater Boston area. In her current role, she is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing investments across both public and private healthcare and life sciences companies, with board seats at multiple portfolio firms including Artiva Biotherapeutics, Acumen Pharmaceuticals, Nimbus Therapeutics, Indapta Therapeutics, and CellCentric.

Dr. Stoppel's sector expertise includes hematologic malignancies, cell therapies, retinal diseases, orphan neurodevelopmental disorders, and other innovative therapeutic areas. Her rapid ascent at RA Capital Management—from Analyst to Principal to Partner—reflects her deep domain knowledge and strong analytical capabilities, as well as significant contributions to firm strategy and portfolio company leadership.

She holds a BA in Biology and Psychology from Harvard University and a PhD in Neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where her research focused on synaptic translation in syndromic autism. Dr. Stoppel’s technical background and investment leadership have helped advance major funding and commercialization efforts for breakthrough healthcare technologies.
