John Packes

John Packes is the Managing Director and Head of Trading at RIPOSTE CAPITAL LLC, where he oversees all trading operations and execution strategy. With more than 25 years of experience in capital markets, his core expertise is focused on US and European equities, executing trades and managing risk across these asset classes for institutional clients.

Throughout his career, John has specialized in equity sales trading, having previously led Investec’s North American Sales-Trading team as Head of Sales Trading and held senior roles at HSBC and CA Cheuvreux North America. His responsibilities have included market making, client execution services, and sales coverage for institutional investors, with deep exposure to equities across various sectors.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management with a minor in Economics from Manhattan College, equipping him with a strong foundation for his capital markets work. His notable achievements include leading teams in major financial institutions and developing structured trading strategies for complex equity transactions, earning recognition within the institutional trading community for his leadership and sector expertise in US and European equities.
