Peter Simasek

Peter Simasek, PhD, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager at Core Alternative Capital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he specializes in macroeconomic and equity market strategies. At Core Alternative Capital, his primary responsibilities involve designing and managing portfolios with an emphasis on options-based strategies for consistent returns and risk management in both up and down markets, utilizing derivatives and equities as core components of client solutions.

Dr. Simasek’s investment expertise spans equity markets, structured products, and fixed income, with prior roles at PIMCO where he developed custom investment solutions and asset allocation strategies for multi-billion dollar institutional clients. He also brings experience in capital markets from his time at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Dr. Simasek holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his academic research addressed a range of topics within fixed income and equity markets. He received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, concentrating in finance and accounting, from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce, and maintains the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
