Gregory Dowling

Gregory Dowling serves as the Managing Principal, Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Head of Research at Fund Evaluation Group (FEG) in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this capacity, he manages the day-to-day activities of the research department, chairs the firm’s investment policy committee overseeing all manager selection decisions, capital market assumptions, and asset allocation strategies, and is a member of FEG’s Leadership and Risk Management Committees.

Greg’s investment expertise spans a broad range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternative investments, with a particular emphasis on hedge funds and risk management strategies. His role involves operational due diligence, developing investment strategies that integrate traditional and alternative assets, and advising institutional clients such as endowments, foundations, and pensions.

Before joining FEG in 2004, Greg was Vice President at Bowling Portfolio Management, where he managed trading operations and provided investment research, and began his career as a financial analyst at Firstar Bank (now US Bank). He holds a BBA from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Xavier University, is recognized as a CFA and CAIA charterholder, and is also an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati where he teaches graduate courses on risk management and alternative investments. He has been recognized as Institutional Investor’s Hedge Fund Consultant of the Year and named among the World’s Most Influential Specialist Consultants by Chief Investment Officer magazine.
