Furat Zomay

Furat Zomay, CFA, is an Investment Analyst at MERS of Michigan, based in Detroit. In his role, he conducts research and analysis supporting senior investment officers and portfolio managers, with direct responsibilities for the monitoring and selection of external investment managers and portfolio management tasks. His focus spans both fixed-income and equity portfolios, and he provides operational and compliance support as well as supplementary analysis for the private markets team.

Prior to joining MERS as a full-time analyst in 2019, Furat completed the firm's internship program and previously interned with State Farm, where he worked with both corporate bond and private equity teams. His experience has equipped him with expertise in manager due diligence, portfolio risk-return analysis, and investment research across public and private market asset classes.

Furat holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a minor in Economics from Michigan State University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He is recognized for his analytic rigor and for supporting MERS' investment committee with portfolio analysis and reporting. His contributions have helped the investment team maintain strong performance and robust risk management for Michigan public pension assets, particularly in fixed-income, equities, and private markets.
