Ryan Torgerson

Ryan Torgerson, CFA, is an Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager for Private Markets at MERS of Michigan, based in Detroit. In this role, he works closely with the Director of Private Markets and other portfolio managers to oversee and manage a $3.5 billion global portfolio, focusing on private equity, real estate, real assets, and diversifying strategies. His core responsibilities include investment research, manager selection, portfolio monitoring, and asset allocation decision-making within these sectors.

Prior to his current position, Ryan served as an Investment Analyst at MERS, where he contributed to performance analysis and external manager evaluation, drawing on experience gained as a Portfolio Analyst at the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust. At UAW RMBT, he streamlined performance reporting for private market investments and helped implement advanced investment data systems.

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan and is a CFA charterholder. His expertise lies in alternative assets and private market due diligence, and he is recognized for enhancing investment oversight and data analytics capabilities at major retirement funds in Michigan.
