Roblox+9.66% delivered a spectacular fourth quarter, with bookings surging 63% to $2.2 billion and daily active users reaching 144 million as the gaming platform's international expansion—particularly in Asia—fueled triple-digit growth in key emerging markets. Shares jumped nearly 10% on the news, with the stock closing at $66.42.

The company's performance capped a transformational 2025 that saw full-year bookings reach $6.8 billion (+55% YoY) and revenue hit $4.9 billion (+36% YoY), significantly exceeding management's original guidance.

"In 2025, we significantly exceeded our guidance both on revenue, where we grew by 36%, and on bookings, where we grew by 55% year-on-year," CEO David Baszucki said on the earnings call. "We saw the emergence of viral hits that broke concurrency records."

International Explosion: Indonesia Up 700%+

The most striking element of Roblox's quarter was its international momentum. While the US and Canada grew a healthy 41% year-over-year, the real story was in Asia-Pacific, which exploded 96%.

Japan+160%
India+110%
Indonesia+700%+
US & Canada+41%
APAC (total)+96%

CFO Naveen Chopra highlighted the quality of these new international users: "When we look at what has happened on the platform, the behavior of the new users that came to Roblox in Q3, Q4, they largely look like our core users. And that's true when you think about how they engage, how they spend, how they retain."

Age Verification: Finding a Bigger Opportunity

Perhaps the most significant strategic insight from the quarter was what Roblox's mandatory age verification rollout revealed about its user base. The company completed a global rollout of facial age estimation in January 2026, achieving 45% penetration of global DAUs.

The age-check data showed something unexpected: Roblox's 18+ cohort is growing at more than 50% and monetizes 40% higher than younger users.

"We estimate our 18 and over cohort is growing at over 50%, and this cohort monetizes 40% higher than younger cohorts," Baszucki explained. "We're optimizing our platform technically to facilitate growth of high-monetizing genres popular with older users, such as shooters, RPGs, and sports and racing."

This discovery has reframed Roblox's growth opportunity. Rather than viewing the older demographic as a challenge, management now sees it as the company's biggest expansion vector.

Creator Economy Thriving

Roblox's flywheel continues to spin: more users attract more creators, who build more content, which attracts more users. In 2025, creators earned over $1.5 billion for the first time, with the top 1,000 creators averaging $1.3 million each—up more than 50% from a year ago.

The standout hits of 2025 included "Steal a Brainrot," which peaked at 25.4 million concurrent players in September—a record for any single experience on the platform.

AI: 400+ Models and Counting

Roblox is aggressively building its AI capabilities, now running over 400 AI models internally. These power everything from content moderation to discovery to real-time translation.

Key AI initiatives include:

  • 4D Generation: Launched this week, allowing users to create new objects in experiences through text prompts
  • Cube 3D/4D: Foundational models for interactive simulation
  • World Models: Using 13 billion hours of 3D world data for creation and NPCs
  • Voice Safety Model: Open-sourced as part of the Ruse Consortium

"Every day, we capture roughly 30,000 years of human interaction data on Roblox in a PII and privacy-compliant way," Baszucki noted. "We're actively using this data to develop and train AI models that continue to bring our vision to life."

When asked about competitive threats from AI gaming tools, Baszucki flipped the narrative: "I would flip it and share how we think about it internally, which is an opportunity for disruption in the opposite direction, which is an opportunity for the expansion of the Roblox vision beyond gaming into the future mix of what is entertainment."

2026 Outlook: Strong Guidance, New Approach

Roblox guided to 2026 bookings of $8.28 billion to $8.55 billion, representing 22%-26% growth and well ahead of the $7.87 billion analyst consensus.

Free Cash Flow Growth+26% YoY

Importantly, CFO Chopra announced a shift in guidance philosophy. Starting in 2027, Roblox will move to quarterly guidance rather than annual, acknowledging the difficulty of predicting viral hits 12 months out.

"We've learned that it's difficult to predict exactly where this business will land 12 months out," Chopra said. "When Roblox set guidance, Steal a Brainrot and Grow a Garden had not even launched. That's created a situation where the company has had to provide relatively conservative guidance."

What to Watch

Near-term catalysts:

  • Q1 2026 content trends and any new viral hits
  • Progress on age verification adoption (targeting near-universal coverage)
  • Advertising revenue ramp—still modest but expected to show "healthy growth"

Key risks:

  • Path to profitability remains unclear despite strong cash generation
  • Regulatory scrutiny around child safety (though Roblox is proactively addressing this)
  • Competition from AI-native gaming platforms

China opportunity: The company continues to partner with Tencent and is contemplating an "air-gapped" entry into China.

The Bottom Line

Roblox just demonstrated that it can deliver massive growth even without a mega-viral hit—Q4's 63% bookings growth came from broad-based strength across geographies and content types. The discovery that older users represent a larger, higher-monetizing opportunity than previously thought reframes the bull case.

At roughly 7x forward bookings, the stock isn't cheap. But with 144 million daily active users, 35 billion hours of quarterly engagement, and a creator economy minting millionaires, Roblox's flywheel shows no signs of slowing.
