John Musgrave

John Musgrave is Managing Partner, Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Portfolio Manager at NXG Investment Management based in Dallas, Texas. In this capacity, he leads investment strategy and oversees portfolio management activities, focusing on both traditional and transformational energy infrastructure across listed equities and closed-end funds. His responsibilities include serving as president and chief executive officer of NXG Cushing®, where he manages key funds such as the NXG Cushing® Midstream Energy Fund and the NXG NextGen Infrastructure Income Fund.

Musgrave's expertise centers on investments in midstream energy, clean and sustainable infrastructure, communication and technology infrastructure, and industrial infrastructure. He has played a pivotal role in defining NXG’s disciplined, research-driven and ESG-integrative investment process within these asset classes, delivering actively-managed solutions in sectors with significant long-term growth potential.

Prior to joining NXG Investment Management in 2007, Musgrave worked as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup, focusing on corporate finance and M&A across diverse industries including energy infrastructure, and at UBS Investment Bank within its Global Energy Group. He holds a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University, bringing deep analytical and sector-specific expertise to his leadership at NXG Investment Management.
