John Schaeffer

John Schaeffer serves as President and Chief Investment Officer at HAHN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT LLC, a boutique investment management firm based in San Francisco, California. In this role, he leads the firm's portfolio management, sets overall investment strategy, and oversees client communication and relationships. His primary focus is on mid-cap U.S. equities, specifically managing value-oriented and core equity strategies targeting companies with market capitalizations between $2 billion and $50 billion.

Schaeffer joined HAHN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT in 2003 and has over two decades of experience in investment management. Prior to HCM, he was Partner and Director of Equity Research at 3Bridge Capital, and earlier served as Senior Analyst at Hanson Investment Management, a subsidiary of United Asset Management. His expertise lies in the bottom-up, fundamentally-driven selection of mid-cap equities, and in constructing concentrated portfolios through in-depth research and due diligence.

He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in Political Science from Duke University. Under his leadership, HCM has built a reputation for disciplined risk assessment and value discovery, serving a diverse client base that includes individuals, family offices, and institutional investors.
