Francesca Philips

Francesca Philips is an Emerging Markets Investment Associate at Marathon Asset Management, where she focuses on investment analysis and portfolio management related to emerging market credits. Her role involves supporting the evaluation and selection of debt and credit opportunities within the firm’s dedicated Emerging Markets team, working alongside senior portfolio managers on strategies targeting both public and private credit across global emerging economies. Specific sectors and asset classes she engages with include sovereign and corporate bonds, distressed debt, and opportunistic credit related to regions such as Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East as aligned with Marathon Asset Management’s emerging markets mandate.

Prior to her current investment role, Francesca held positions as Marketing and Client Service Analyst and Investor Relations Analyst at Marathon Asset Management, where she coordinated client communications and investor reporting for global mandates, starting from December 2020. Before joining Marathon, she was an Investor Relations Analyst at Northwest Investment Management (HK) Limited, providing exposure to Asia-Pacific investment and client engagement. These experiences have given her a strong foundation in client service, investment research, and relationship management in international finance.

Francesca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies with a Chinese concentration from Duke University. She also completed affiliate programs in Political Science/International Relations at The University of Hong Kong and in Chinese at the University of International Business and Economics, demonstrating her expertise in global politics, languages, and regional markets relevant to her investment focus. Her academic and professional background support her specialized perspective on emerging markets credit and investment strategies.
