Sean McFarland

Sean McFarland is Vice President of Portfolio Management and Trading at Direxion, based in New York, NY. In this capacity, he oversees the management and execution of various portfolios, with a particular emphasis on trading efficiency, risk management, and operational oversight for the firm’s diverse lineup of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

McFarland’s expertise centers on leveraged and inverse ETFs, with specific experience managing products that provide strategic sector and thematic exposures, including equities, commodities, and alternative asset classes. His day-to-day responsibilities involve not only active portfolio management and trading, but also the design and launch of new ETF offerings within these specialized segments.

Prior to his current role, McFarland served as Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Management at Direxion, following an earlier position as Operations Analyst at Morgan Stanley. He holds a BA in Economics from Loyola University Maryland and is a candidate for an MBA in Finance from Saint Peter’s College Graduate School, underlining his commitment to the evolving dynamics of quantitative and tactical investment strategies.
