Tom Capasse

Tom Capasse is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Waterfall Asset Management LLC, based in Westport, CT, where he is responsible for leading the firm’s investment strategy and overall management. With over 40 years of structured credit experience, he oversees Waterfall’s activities in asset-backed securities (ABS), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), commercial and residential mortgage lending, and specialty finance sectors, including small business loans and various real estate-related assets.

Prior to founding Waterfall Asset Management in 2005, Tom led principal finance and structured credit groups at Macquarie Securities, Nomura Securities, and Greenwich Capital, and was a pioneering member of Merrill Lynch’s ABS Group, where he helped structure some of the initial subprime mortgage and manufactured housing securitizations. He began his career as a fixed income analyst at Dean Witter and Bank of Boston.

Tom Capasse holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Bowdoin College. He is recognized as an innovator in securitization markets, contributing significantly to the development of new asset classes and investment structures, and is noted for building an international network of relationships across asset origination, servicing, and fintech platforms in the credit, lending, and real estate finance industries.
