Christopher Louw

Christopher Louw is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at SONA Asset Management (US) LLC, based in New York, NY, where he has been a key member since the firm's inception in September 2016. At SONA, he is responsible for portfolio management with a primary focus on credit markets, especially within European and U.S. high-yield corporate credit sectors. SONA Asset Management specializes in investing across the credit spectrum, emphasizing capital preservation and risk-adjusted outperformance during periods of market stress.

Bringing over 20 years of credit market experience, Christopher's expertise covers high-yield bonds, credit default swaps (CDS), and other credit instruments within both developed and emerging markets. Before joining SONA, he was a Portfolio Manager at Highbridge Capital Management, focusing on U.S. long/short credit, and previously worked as a Market Maker in high-yield credit and CDS at Citigroup. His earlier roles include Credit Analyst positions at Deutsche Bank, where he began his career in London.

Christopher holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. His significant contributions to the investment industry include developing strategic approaches to credit investing across cycles and leading the growth of SONA’s U.S. and European high-yield credit capabilities.
