Sean Russell

Sean Russell is the Strategy Head and Portfolio Manager specializing in Government Credit at Whitebox Advisors LLC, based in Austin, Texas. In this capacity, he leads strategic direction and manages fixed income portfolios focused on government credit exposures for the firm’s institutional and private clients. His investment purview includes U.S. government bonds and related fixed income sectors within Whitebox’s multi-strategy hedge fund offerings.

Sean’s career spans over two decades in finance, beginning as an Analyst at Greenwich Capital Markets (2005–2009), followed by an Associate role at Ziff Brothers Investments (2010–2012), before joining Whitebox Advisors in 2012. At Whitebox, he has been instrumental in developing government credit investment strategies and overseeing risk-adjusted performance in public fixed income markets.

He holds an MBA in Finance and Investment Management from The University of Texas at Austin’s Red McCombs School of Business, and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History from Loyola University Maryland. Sean is recognized for his expertise in managing government credit instruments, and his contributions in shaping alternative asset management in the public debt investment sector.
