Axel Weiss

Dr. Axel Weiss is Managing Director and Head of German and Austrian Business at AQR Capital Management, based in Munich, Germany. In this leadership role, he oversees institutional client relationships and the strategic expansion of AQR's systematic investment solutions across Germany and Austria, with an emphasis on quantitative strategies in equities, fixed income, and alternative asset classes.

With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Weiss previously served as Executive Director at Affiliated Managers Group and held key institutional sales and relationship management roles at Fidelity Worldwide Investment and Universal Investment. His expertise covers institutional asset management, quantitative strategies, and the delivery of multi-asset and hedge fund solutions to pension funds, insurers, and corporate clients in German-speaking Europe.

Dr. Weiss earned his doctorate from the University of Bayreuth, where he specialized in the taxation of derivatives, and supplemented his studies at the University of Leeds. Fluent in German and English, he is recognized for his deep knowledge of derivatives and quantitative investment approaches, significantly contributing to the adoption of alternative and factor-based investment strategies among major institutional investors in the DACH region.
