James Clark

James F. Clark is a Partner and Analyst at Sound Shore Management, Inc., based in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he has served since 2004. He acts as a generalist investor but is specifically responsible for the firm’s investments in sectors such as energy, industrials, materials, and utilities. He previously led Sound Shore’s Governance Committee and has served on its Investment and Operating Committees, contributing to both investment decision-making and organizational leadership.

Prior to his tenure at Sound Shore Management, Mr. Clark held multiple senior roles at Credit Suisse First Boston from 1984 to 2004. He most recently served as Managing Director and Head of U.S. Equity Research (2000–2004), and for over a decade was the firm’s International and Domestic Oil Analyst, demonstrating deep expertise in the global energy sector. His breadth of experience encompasses U.S. and global equities research, with a particular emphasis on value equity strategies and sector-specific analysis.

Mr. Clark holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and American Studies from Williams College. Highly regarded for his rigorous, bottom-up research process and contrarian approach, he has contributed significantly to Sound Shore’s long-term, fundamental value investment disciplined strategy. He also serves on the board of directors and audit committees of major investment vehicles, including Blackstone Private Credit Fund and Blackstone Secured Lending Fund.
