Scott Murphy

Scott Murphy is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Tufton Capital Management, a leading investment advisory firm recently acquired by Mercer Advisors, based in the Baltimore area. In this capacity, he is responsible for managing client portfolios, driving firm-wide investment strategy, and cultivating long-term relationships primarily with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across the Mid-Atlantic region. His investment oversight encompasses comprehensive financial planning, trust and estate services, and the implementation of disciplined, value-oriented approaches to equity and fixed income investments, with a specific focus on the consumer discretionary sector.

With nearly three decades in the investment industry, Scott joined Tufton Capital in 1997 and continues to play a pivotal role in the firm's leadership. Prior to Tufton, he served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Hardesty and held institutional equity positions in the Trust Division at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Throughout his career, Scott has developed deep expertise in managing portfolios for individuals, families, and institutions, consistently prioritizing fiduciary responsibility and personalized client service.

Scott holds a BA from Towson University and an MBA from the University of Baltimore, where he has contributed to the academic community as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Merrick School of Business. He is recognized for his civic leadership in Baltimore and his commitment to philanthropic causes.
