Paul Violich

Paul A. Violich is the Founder and Portfolio Manager at Violich Capital Management, based in Kentfield, California. Drawing on decades of experience in the investment industry, he launched the firm in 1999 after serving as Chairman of Wentworth, Hauser and Violich, where he significantly grew assets under management. At Violich Capital, he leads portfolio management and research, specializing in economic and corporate analysis, with substantial expertise in U.S. equities and diversified asset portfolios.

Violich's investment approach covers public equities and fixed income, with a focus on long-term growth and preservation of capital for institutions and high-net-worth clients. His background includes experience as a security analyst for Brundage, Story and Rose, and leadership roles overseeing multi-billion dollar portfolios, emphasizing client service and risk management.

He holds a BA in History and an MBA from Stanford University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC). Notably, Violich has contributed to the investment industry through his board memberships (CFA Institute, CFA Society of San Francisco, National Association of Business Economists) and philanthropic leadership, including endowing Stanford's women’s swim coach position and supporting agricultural innovation as president of one of California’s leading almond and walnut producers.
