    Startup Mindset

    The ideal candidate has experience working at fast-moving startups. We've found that people coming from big companies often struggle to adapt to the relentless pace of a startup, where there are no PMs, designers, or managers. Working at Fintool means having an idea, writting code all day and sending to prod the same day.

    Passion for Building

    75% of our engineering team was hired after we reviewed their public or private codebases. We love it when candidates have side projects that showcase their skills and passions. We love creating software, it's more a passion than a job.

    Senior Experience

    We don't currently have the bandwidth to mentor junior engineers. We're looking for someone with startup experience who has contributed to a large codebase. Since most coding will be done with AI, we need someone who understands architecture, brings novel ideas, and has the energy to implement them.

    We believe high-performing teams do their best work and have the most fun in-person. We love brainstorming, shipping and laughing together too much to spend our days in boring Zooms. Our teammates moved from Toronto, Dallas, Sacramento to San Francisco. There is 0 WFH.

    Interview Process We move fast. Come prepared.

    Introductory Chat

    A 30-minute Zoom meeting with either our CTO or CEO. This is an opportunity to confirm your deep expertise and ensure alignment on your career goals and our expectations.

    Coding Exercise

    You will receive a brief take-home assignment to showcase your technical skills. Afterward, we will brainstorm together on your solution to understand your thought process.

    On-Site Interviews

    Join us in person to meet the team. We will have lunch together and dive deep into our codebase and the challenges we are tackling.

    Reference Checks

    We will reach out to three of your references—colleagues and managers—to gain insights into your work style and collaboration skills.
