Jason Karceski

Jason Karceski, Ph.D., is a Partner, Portfolio Manager, and head of Research at LSV Asset Management, based in Chicago, IL. He focuses primarily on the firm’s Managed Volatility strategies and has been instrumental in the development, implementation, and management of LSV’s suite of Managed Volatility equity products since their inception, targeting institutional investors and employing quantitative value equity approaches.

Dr. Karceski oversees investment portfolios that emphasize risk-controlled, long-term growth of capital, primarily in large-cap equity asset classes and global equity strategies. His responsibilities span portfolio management as well as the advancement and application of proprietary quantitative models to equity markets, especially those designed to reduce volatility while seeking attractive returns.

He previously served as Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Florida where his academic research included equity trading strategies, risk control, analyst behavior, mutual funds, IPOs, and performance measurement. Dr. Karceski holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from the University of North Florida, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech. He is widely published in leading finance journals and has received multiple industry and academic awards for research related to investment management and quantitative finance.
