John Carraux

John Carraux is Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at Punch & Associates Investment Management, Inc., based in Minneapolis, MN. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the firm’s research and investment process, collaborating closely with the investment team to manage and implement the firm’s key strategies on a day-to-day basis. Carraux plays a critical role in shaping investment strategies for discretionary portfolios serving private clients, institutions, and two private funds, with a significant focus on micro- and nano-cap equities, as well as broader large cap, small/mid cap, and all cap equity strategies.

He joined Punch & Associates shortly after its founding in 2002, starting as a research associate and progressing to Managing Partner in 2013. Through hands-on experience analyzing financial statements, engaging with management teams, and seeking undervalued opportunities, Carraux has established deep expertise in bottom-up, research-driven value investing, with a particular focus on U.S. equities across the market capitalization spectrum.

Carraux holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC) designations and graduated magna cum laude with Delta Epsilon Sigma honors from the University of St. Thomas, earning a BA in Finance and Spanish. He is known for his rigorous analytical approach and his commitment to thorough research, exemplified by his contributions to Punch & Associates’ growth and reputation as a value-oriented investment management firm.
