John Cassady

John Cassady III, CFA, is the Managing Partner, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer at Red Cedar Investment Management, LLC, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI. In his current role, he leads the firm’s strategic direction and oversees all portfolio management and investment strategy decisions, with a particular emphasis on multi-sector fixed income and high-quality, income-producing investment solutions.

Cassady has extensive expertise in fixed income sectors, with a strong focus on preferred securities, hybrid securities, and other income-generating assets such as mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. His investment philosophy centers on applying relative value analysis across the capital structure, managing risk through diversified, non-traditional fixed income opportunities, and implementing portfolio hedges for tail risk and volatility control.

Prior to co-founding Red Cedar, Cassady served as Director of Fixed Income and Senior Portfolio Manager at ClearArc Capital. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as the CFA designation from the CFA Institute, underscoring his depth of knowledge in quantitative analysis, portfolio construction, and risk management within the fixed income universe.
