Stephan Van Der Mersch

Stephan Van Der Mersch is an Analyst at Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb, where he has worked since 2008 after being recruited directly from National Chengchi University's MBA program in Taiwan. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Stephan is deeply involved in fundamental investment research and analysis, focusing on public equities across global markets, with emphasis on consumer internet and technology sectors through his board-level experience at Beleza Na Web.

Before joining Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb, Stephan gained practical exposure in Asian business environments, including hands-on board experience at Beleza Na Web from 2015 to 2019, which sharpened his expertise in consumer-focused and digitally enabled companies. His career foundations were built as an intern at Ruane, Cunniff prior to his analyst role, facilitating a strong understanding of the firm’s investment process and philosophy.

Stephan holds an MBA (in Mandarin) from National Chengchi University, where he was the only foreigner in the program and recruited before graduation, as well as Chinese studies from National Sun Yat-Sen University and Nanjing University, and a BA in International Relations with minors in Economics and Chinese from Occidental College. His academic background and Mandarin fluency provide unique insight into Asian markets and cross-cultural investment opportunities, distinguishing him in global equity analysis and research.
