Wally Weitz

Wally Weitz is the Founder and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Weitz Investment Management, an Omaha-based asset management firm he established in 1983. He leads the investment strategy and manages flagship funds such as the Partners III Opportunity Fund and the Multi-Cap Equity Fund, overseeing portfolios with a focus on long-term value investing and capital preservation.

With over five decades in the investment industry, Wally specializes in U.S. equities, particularly across multi-cap and value-oriented strategies. His work emphasizes fundamental, bottom-up stock selection and identifying companies trading below intrinsic value, with key investments historically spanning sectors such as financials, media, consumer discretionary, and industrials.

Wally began his career as a securities analyst in New York and spent a decade managing accounts at Chiles, Heider & Co. before founding his firm. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Carleton College and has been recognized for his service on various boards, including Carleton College and, more recently, Berkshire Hathaway. His enduring contributions to asset management have made him a prominent value investor in the Midwest and beyond.
