Chaney Sheffield

Chaney Sheffield is a Partner at Canyon Partners, LLC, where he co-heads the firm's Opportunistic Credit strategy. In this role, he oversees investment activities across public and private capital structures, with a focus on distressed, dislocated, and special situation opportunities. Sheffield is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing investments, and also serves on Canyon’s ESG Committee, evaluating environmental, social, and governance factors for the firm’s portfolios.

Sheffield specializes in the packaging, paper, leisure, lodging, and gaming sectors, leveraging deep industry expertise to identify undervalued credit and equity opportunities within complex capital structures. He is recognized for his strategic approach to distressed investing and is a key driver in Canyon’s efforts to capitalize on market dislocations, including the identification and restructuring of distressed credits.

Before joining Canyon Partners in 2008, Sheffield worked at Morgan Stanley in both New York and Los Angeles, where he focused on investment banking and later on investing in distressed and special situation securities. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard University and has been instrumental in shaping Canyon’s investment platform, overseeing billions in assets and contributing significantly to industry best practices and Canyon’s reputation for rigorous research and execution.
