Dan Johnson

Dan Johnson is the Founder and Portfolio Manager at Gillson Capital LP, a Chicago-based hedge fund established in 2015. He oversees the firm's fundamental, market- and factor-neutral long/short equity strategy, with a particular focus on the global financial services sector. Johnson manages significant discretionary assets and directs investments in public equities, maintaining a portfolio with a high concentration in top financial holdings such as Progressive Corp.

Prior to founding Gillson Capital, Johnson served as Portfolio Manager at Citadel Investment Group in Chicago, where he led the Financials team and managed a multi-billion dollar portfolio. Earlier in his career, he spent eight years at Brinson Partners (later UBS Global Asset Management), acting as lead analyst for the healthcare services and insurance industries.

Johnson is recognized for his industry expertise, having twice received Institutional Investor’s Top Financial Services Analyst award in 2004 and 2007. He holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
