James Shannon

James Shannon is Chief Executive Officer at Indus Capital Partners in New York, overseeing all non-investment operations and shaping the firm’s strategic direction. With more than 25 years of financial services experience, he plays a pivotal executive leadership role at the firm, following a long tenure as Senior Partner, Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Trading at Indus Capital Partners.

He has specialized throughout his career in global equity markets and derivatives, with significant expertise in trading and portfolio operations. Before joining Indus Capital Partners, Shannon held senior positions at Soros Fund Management and GE Asset Management, developing broad operational knowledge and a strong trading track record in global equities and related asset classes.

James holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. John’s University, The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, and actively supports diversity, inclusion, and educational initiatives—such as chairing the Investment Committee at his alma mater. He is recognized for his strategic insight and ability to navigate complex capital market environments, especially in the area of global equities and derivatives.
