Gotham Makker

Gotham Makker, MD, is a Partner and Head of Strategic Investments at RTW Investments, LP, based in New York, where he has served since January 2023. In his role, he focuses on identifying and managing investments in the biopharmaceutical and medical technology sectors, leveraging RTW’s full life cycle approach to support innovation from early-stage development to mature public companies.

Before joining RTW Investments, Dr. Makker was the CEO of Simran Investment Group, LLC, a privately held healthcare-focused investment firm in New York, where he specialized in venture and growth investments within healthcare. He brings deep sector expertise in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medtech assets, contributing scientific rigor and operational experience to his investment work.

Dr. Makker holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, a degree in Cardiovascular Science from Columbia University, and an additional degree from The Johns Hopkins University. His background bridges medicine, scientific research, and investment, positioning him as a leader in life sciences capital allocation and strategic investment within the healthcare industry.
