Rex Olson

Rex Olson is a Senior Research Analyst at Aristotle Capital, based in Newport Beach, California, and part of the firm’s credit research team. He brings over 34 years of investment and banking experience to his role, having previously served as head of credit research for Pacific Life’s portfolio of corporate bonds, high-yield, and bank-loan securities, as well as holding portfolio management and analyst positions at GE Capital and Transamerica.

His specific sector coverage includes the autos, financials, media (cable and non-cable), and wireless industries, where he applies deep expertise in credit research and portfolio management for fixed income assets such as corporate bonds, high-yield debt, and senior loans. Olson was a founding member of Pacific Asset Management—now Aristotle Pacific Capital—where he played a key role in the research and active portfolio construction process across credit quality and industry verticals.

Olson holds both a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Southern California and is a CFA charterholder. With a focus on rigorous fundamental credit analysis, he has contributed significantly to advancements in credit selection and risk management processes within the investment industry, particularly in the areas of fixed income and structured credit strategies.
