Adam Schwartz

Adam H. Schwartz is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at First Manhattan Co. LLC in New York, where he manages assets for individuals, families, partnerships, and charitable trusts while collaborating closely with the firm's Executive Chairman, Robert Gottesman. He has over 27 years of industry experience and more than two decades at First Manhattan, where his responsibilities include portfolio oversight, strategic investment selection, and leading the development of specialized investment vehicles.

Adam’s investment practice is notable for a value-oriented, long-term approach focused on capital preservation and growth. He has played a lead role in establishing First Manhattan's private investment funds, particularly those with a focus on China (FM First China Funds, FM First Hong Kong Funds) and associated due diligence, traveling regularly to China and San Francisco. His sector experience is especially strong in companies with high barriers to entry and seasoned management teams, including a particular emphasis on telecom, technology, and cross-border investments.

Prior to First Manhattan, Adam worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in New York covering telecom companies and as a strategic development analyst for a major European telecom firm in London, analyzing M&A opportunities. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics and International Relations from Brown University, and he also serves on the board of The Child Center of NY.
