Mike Dickson

Mike Dickson is Head of Research and Quantitative Strategies at Horizon Investments®, where he leads the firm’s systematic strategy and process design for all investment strategies, overseeing research in quantitative methods and strategies to support portfolio construction, risk management, and new product development. He also serves as a Portfolio Manager for several of the firm’s mutual funds, sub-advisory relationships, and model portfolios, focusing on goals-based investment solutions and innovative risk mitigation strategies.

Dickson’s expertise spans quantitative style investing, empirical asset pricing, factor models, and portfolio construction, with a particular emphasis on equities, multi-asset strategies, and systematic approaches to risk management. His research and leadership have helped shape Horizon’s investment process, which integrates quantitative rigor with qualitative analysis to deliver tailored investment frameworks for financial advisors and their clients.

Prior to his current role, Dickson held senior positions at Horizon Investments, including Head of Portfolio Management and Director of Structured Financial Solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as a BS in Chemistry from Winthrop University. Dickson is a frequent contributor to scholarly journals and industry conferences, recognized for his work in quantitative investing and portfolio management.
