Karim Sawabini

Karim Sawabini is Vice President at Moon Capital Management LP, an SEC-registered global alternative investment management firm based in New York. In this role, he serves as a research sector head with a specialized focus on Latin American, EMEA telecommunications, and the Middle East markets, as well as broader public equities in global emerging markets. He is also noted as a partner and portfolio manager within the firm, where he guides long/short strategies and leads investments in undervalued or overlooked companies, often in markets experiencing significant economic shifts.

Sawabini’s investment expertise spans global emerging markets, with a particular emphasis on illiquid markets and sectors such as telecommunications, industrials, and financial services. He is recognized for his top-down macroeconomic insights, taking advantage of market inefficiencies during periods of economic imbalance and currency devaluation, notably in Egypt and similar markets.

Prior to joining Moon Capital in 2005, Sawabini worked as an analyst at J.P. Morgan and later as an associate in the Global Communications and Media Group at Morgan Stanley. He also served on the investment team at Oaktree Capital's hedge fund division. Sawabini holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from Georgetown University, complemented by a minor in Economics, underscoring his analytical and global investment acumen.
