Ellen Carr

Ellen Carr is Director of Research and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Barksdale Investment Management (also referenced as Weaver C. Barksdale & Associates), where she specializes in the construction and active management of high yield and core-plus bond portfolios. Her primary focus is on high yield bonds, investment-grade corporate credit, and long-duration fixed income assets, serving an institutional and separately managed account client base.

Previously, Carr was Senior Vice President and High Yield Portfolio Manager at Capital Group Companies/American Funds, where she managed institutional and mutual fund assets and developed expertise in corporate credit analysis and portfolio construction. In addition to her investment roles, she has been an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School since 2012, teaching credit markets and cash flow modeling.

She holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a BA from Harvard University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa). Carr is recognized as a contributor to leading industry publications, a co-author of a book on women in investment management, and an influential advocate for diversity in finance. She resides in Asheville, NC, and splits her time across several locations, actively participating in nonprofit and educational boards.
