John Rowsell

John B. Rowsell, PhD is Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Sendero Wealth Management, where he oversees investment strategy, asset allocation, and market research from the firm's Chicago office. He leads the investment committee, advising on tactical views of markets, due diligence on managers, and identifying innovative opportunities for Sendero’s clients. His primary coverage includes alternative investments—particularly hedge funds, private equity, and blockchain technology—as well as guiding manager selection and sector exposures within multi-asset portfolios.

Prior to joining Sendero in 2018, John served as Partner at Canyon Road Capital and spent over a decade as Managing Director at Man Investments, one of the world’s largest fund-of-funds firms, holding leadership roles in Chicago, Zurich, and London. He has also been an Advisor to Goldman Sachs and Director at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, bringing deep expertise in global markets, manager diligence, and institutional investment strategy.

Dr. Rowsell holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech, along with a BSc. Honours in Agricultural Economics from the University of Guelph. He serves on the board of the Virginia Tech Foundation, and is recognized for providing unique access to top-tier thought leaders and alternative investment strategies, significantly shaping the firm’s approach to sophisticated sector exposure and portfolio construction for clients.
